Three people 'scale fence', escape from Howard Springs COVID-19 quarantine facility near Darwin

www.abc.net.au...

A search is underway for three people who police say scaled a fence and escaped from Darwin's Howard Springs COVID-19 quarantine facility this morning.

Key points:
NT Police say the trio escaped sometime before 4:40am last night

It is not known if the escapees are returned international travellers or contacts linked to the Katherine COVID outbreak

NT Police are conducting a police operation in the area

A large contingent of police is currently at the scene, with officers in masks stopping and searching vehicles.

In a statement, NT Police said they were searching for three absconders.

"At 4:40am, it was reported that three people from the Centre for National Resilience scaled the fence and fled the area," the statement reads.

"Police and staff at the Centre for National Resilience are currently confirming the absconders' identities prior to releasing further information."

The facility is currently holding people affected by the NT's Katherine region COVID-19 outbreak as well as returned travellers from repatriation flights.

Doesn’t sound like those three were very sick. When I had COVID-19 I couldn’t walk to the mailbox.

The Howard Springs 3 didn’t kill themselves.

Never Forget.

Also: ones man’s dissident or freedom fighter is another’s terrorist or insurrectionist.

Ahem

or contacts linked to the Katherine COVID outbreak

You don't have to test positive for covid to be forcibly incarcerated in Australia. All it takes is to be in the same general vicinity as someone who does.

And all for a disease that about 98% of the population are not at risk of being hospitalised and a mortality rate of about 0.24% - 0.5%.

coronavirus.nt.gov.au...

We aren't holding you, it's just a mandatory quarantine that happens to be in the poorest in the country, imagine that.

Yea Im reading the things you must do in quarantine, sound an awful lot like a lot of things you would have to do if you were in jail.

A person in quarantine must;
stay in the person's allocated room, including on any veranda space allocated to the room, unless permitted by an authorised officer; and
when not in their room, or on their veranda, residents must take all reasonable measures to stay at least 1.5 metres away from any other person in the quarantine facility, except for the person's spouse, de facto partner, child or parent; and
wear a face mask when outside their room unless an authorised officer permits the person to remove the face mask; and
comply with any directions given by an authorised officer to avoid people congregating in a quarantine zone; and
must not leave the quarantine zone in which the person's allocated room is located unless the person is escorted by an authorised officer, except in an emergency.
You are not able to share or hand over physical objects to residents who are not your family members. COVID-19 lives on surfaces so you must not give items, toys, food, activities, or play games like cards with people outside your family.

Sounds exactly like a name that progressive-liberals would love to put on jails for people who committed no crime.

after reading the costs or quarantine I don't blame them

Quarantine Fees
Returning travellers are responsible for quarantine fees when arriving in the Northern Territory. The fees for the mandatory 14 days quarantine are:

$2,500 per individual or
$5,000 per family of two or more people sharing accommodation
Note: You will be required to have a COVID-19 test before you leave the facility. If you refuse the test, you will have to stay in quarantine for an additional 10 days and will be charged at a daily rate.

If you are an Australian resident on a low income you may be eligible for a reduced quarantine fee. The low income threshold requirements are:

individuals - $52,706 per annum
families - $68,894 combined per annum
If you qualify in this category quarantine fees are:

$1,250 per individual or
$2,500 per family of two or more people sharing accommodation
Low income earners will be required to provide their most recent tax assessment notice or a statement from Centrelink. Where these are not available, other evidence may be requested.

No my friend those people were locked up because the Nazi's didn't like them. These people are bioterrorists that must be stopped at all cost

Look at all those cases in a population of 247,327 in the Northern territory.

They have 1757 people quarantined for 239 confirmed cases in a population of almost 1/4 of a million people.

Hopping the fence is better than cutting your ears off like Chopper did to get out of Pentridge.

oz/china relations

China has long sought to divide and isolate U.S. allies — and Australia’s identity in Beijing’s eyes has always been defined by its relationship with the United States. What has changed of late is twofold: China is increasingly assertive in achieving its goals; and contrary to Beijing’s intent, Australia has become increasingly assertive in pushing back. The clash of China’s expanding interests and Australia’s unwillingness to be deterred illustrate the structural challenge for Australia that will characterize future relations with the People’s Republic of China.

These measures are apparently in response to Australia’s call for an independent inquiry into the origins of COVID-19, a proposal that evolved into a compromise motion endorsed by a record 137 countries — including Australia and China —

That's the most disturbing thing about the Rona...failing to come to terms that ivm will end the planned scandemic.

These people are being treated as criminals that are jailed. It's insane! When will people demand from these placed politicians that this ends? Can you imagine if you don't have a choice , you have to travel aboard , for whatever essential reason , and then you're forced into 'quarantine' for which you have to pay thousands as well?

I'm hoping more and more that a meteorite wipes out this planet. The insanity of these a**holes who think they get to be in charge
This will never end , unless it all collapses or people start hanging those who think they get to be in charge.
