NY Post

Inflation continued to surge in May, with consumer prices accelerating at the fastest pace in more than 12 years as the economy emerges from the pandemic, the feds said Thursday. The Labor Department’s Consumer Price Index, which measures a basket of goods and services as well as energy and food costs, jumped 5 percent in May from a year earlier.

I don’t know how they get these numbers but it seems low to me.

Gas is up 1-2$ per gallon from a year ago.

Lumber has skyrocketed.

Beef is unmentionably high.

Guess money printer Go brrrrrrrr Joe Biden is not to blame though. I’m sure the MSM will be pointing out how it’s all orange man bad’s fault.

Marxist policies always cause the value of the currency to crash. But at least there was no tax on the poor!!!

All you that voted for this crap, I hope your happy.

No more mean tweets is worth this, right???

They are pushing their great reset hard.

But this is Biden’s Mis-management here.

He just canceled trumps orders keeping insulin and bee-sting epi injections low so those prices are/will skyrocket too.

I don't think it was all, it was a few of us back in March/April of last year. You cannot shut down the world's largest economy and then expect nothing to happen for years following.

Live and learn, veals, you should have spoken up in spring of 2020.

Oh yeah, they called us heartless murderers then.

And while technically true, it was irritating.

Many/most of us non Dem-o-rinos were against this crap from the beginning.

But what is happening now is clearly planned because Biden and associates are clearly destroying our nation on purpose.

Shutting down our oil pipelines.

Prohibiting drilling.

Artificial shortages.

Spending unrecoverable amounts of money by the government.

It’s all planed and laid out in their green new deal/ great reset.

“You will own nothing and be happy about it!”

You can think it's planned but it's what happens when you go from little to no demand to normal-ish demand. Was anyone bitching when gas prices were a buck fifty last year? Probably only people in the gas and oil business.

Trump had us oil independent on purpose.

Biden has destroyed that on purpose.

We're not oil independent, we imported millions of barrels in 2020.

it's best to include all the facts, not just the nice ones.

The United States became a net annual petroleum exporter in 2020
In 2020, the United States exported about 8.51 MMb/d and imported about 7.86 MMb/d of petroleum1, making the United States a net annual petroleum exporter for the first time since at least 1949

It has nothing to do with good/bad and that doesn't make us petroleum independent as the poster claimed, we cannot process all of the oil we extract. To be truly independent we need the refining infrastructure to process what we extract, this does not exist.

I thought your argument was "we imported millions of barrels in 2020."
We exported more. But that won't happen again. The current admin wants us to be green so they are working on forcing us to buy more from others at higher prices to make the green stuff that isn't ready for prime time look like less of a steaming turd.

My argument is we are not 'oil independent' as the poster claimed because we need to import oil for refining purposes, when we don't import oil we will be independent.

Sorry no. You don’t get to invent the terms.

We were oil independent by the definitions long established.

Not anymore though Joe is busy helping Russia and it’s pipeline and canceling ours.

Sure.

Stop importing Saudi light sweet crude and watch what happens when you go to the gas station.

Trump was busy buying up all the excess oil and replenishing our oil reserves.

Smart move.

Being oil independent he was then able to have a strong negotiation hand with the Middle East.

Biden is busy making us weak on almost every front.

The Strategic Oil Reserves are a very finite stockpile and don't make us oil independent, we still import a massive amount of oil due to an inability to refine our own.

It's like saying you're food independent because you grow your own vegetables but then go to the supermarket for meat.
