Big chain store Costco has announced wage hikes !! 😁

And guess why ?

Yup, the tax cuts !!

Starting pay goes up a dollar an hour, and other wages go up a little less.

OK Democrats, when do we start boycotting Costco ? 😃

Note the payroll tax income for the Gov will increase too !! 🤦

Costco Raises Starting Wage With Help from GOP Tax Cuts

Costco Wholesale Corp. said Thursday it would raise its minimum wage and boost pay for 130,000 U.S. store staff, intensifying the battle for workers in a tight U.S. job market.

The retail chain, second only to Walmart Inc. in terms of U.S. sales, said it would increase its starting hourly wages by $1 to $14 or $14.50 an hour. Other hourly workers will receive raises of between 25 cents and 50 cents. The new wages take effect on June 11.

Executives said the company was using some of its savings from last year’s U.S. tax overhaul to invest in its workforce. The legislation lowered the corporate tax rate, a boon for companies like Costco with large U.S. operations.

Richard Galanti, Costco’s finance chief, estimated the annual cost of the wage increases will be between $110 million and $120 million pretax. However, he said the company expects an effective tax rate of 28% this fiscal year, compared with about 35% last year.

At least it's been way above "minimum wage" for a long time eh.

Are these then considered "crumbs" Ms. Pelosi?

Or would you rather the business keep the wage the same and keep the money from the tax cuts? At least then, you WOULD have a reason to complain.

Now, not so much.

How is people getting a wage raise a bad thing?

And I guess if the "masters" of the previous administration had enacted similar tax cuts 3-4 years ago (as you mentioned) then it would be at the level you advocate?

At least it's peanuts and not the dung we were given during the last administration....and then we had to PAY extra for that dung or be considered tax evaders.

If Hillary or Bernie were elected, we'd see the payroll taxes increase, but no wage increases. America dodged 2 bullets, thanks to the electorate being smarter than Obama said we are.

SO, you like complaining for complaining sake. Got it.

Enjoy wallowing in your self pity.

What a sad life indeed.

right let's default to some partisan BS and forget who's really pulling the strings

what a total joke, I find anyone naive enough to believe what's happening as we are being told it's happening potentially has limited knowledge of what's actually going on, willfully ignorant, or totally has their head in the sand

pick one

I reject your warped reality and substitute my own. It's closer to what i actually see going on in the world.

believe what you want, do it knowing that the story the media is giving you is a lie

not wanting to look deeper into who's pulling the strings and why, well hey do whatever you want, but anyone else who thinks that's it's really a Democrat vs Republican good guy vs bad guy and the people we elect really work for us fairy tale

well keep on thinking that, don't let anyone get in the way of your fairy tale

And you keep complaining about anything that doesn't get you free stuff or a higher wage for flipping burgers or working the checkout line at Costco.

Ignore the world of knowledge and education (not talking college scam) that if one has the drive, can be the road to that big money. But then, that big money itself is an illusion in itself. You will still be an unhappy bitter person inside, as you seem to be now. Money cannot solve that level of self delusion.

The last time Costco raised it wages was back in March 2016 under the Obama administration. The last time prior to that was 2007 before the major economic collapse. The wage was raised from $13-$13.50 and now it's been raised again to $14.00. This is mainly because the economy has been on the up since the mid-2010s. There's little to no evidence to show that Trump's corporate tax cuts are the root of this.

Correction. In early 2016 it was raised from $11.50 to $13.00.

you don't even know what you're talking about you're just totally making up a strawman and asserting it as my position to try and get me embattled in some left vs right partisan pissing contest to try and keep people divided and distracted from the real truth

it's almost like your a bot
